About

DIPO. Fascinating. Quirky. Eclectic. Practically non-existent.

Yeah, we’re working on it.

A note on formatting

To present 2PP results I always use the form ALP ## – ## LIB. A few points need to be made here. First, I’m fully aware that national (or state) 2PP results give results for the Coalition, not the Liberal party. However, I don’t know any pleasant three-letter abbreviations for Coalition that are in standard use, so accuracy be buggered. I’m using LIB.

Secondly. In states like Queensland where the Nationals are the predominant Coalition partner (the idea seems so foreign here in NSW) I use NAT instead of LIB. Same applies.

Thirdly. The fact that I list ALP before LIB isn’t some sort of bias (as if my listing it first is going to make you vote for them anyway). The options for who to list first are:

  • Whoever’s winning that poll/election (confusing and inconsistent)
  • Whoever’s currently in government (inconsistent between states and federal, means I have to change a long-held system every time a government changes)
  • Alphabetical order (easy, consistent)

See my point?
